Dr. Giunta received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in 2008 at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He is currently senior R&D engineer at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology. Over the last years, he has been working on the development of advanced methods and tools for the multi-scale thermo-piezo-mechanical modelling and simulation of composite, sandwich and functionally graded materials and structures (beams, plates and shells) accounting for failure. He also has been working on the finite element method as well as meshless approaches. He has been the principal investigator of the FNR CORE project FUNCTIONALLY (C09/MS/05). He supervised two Ph.D. students. Dr. Giunta serves as peer reviewer for several international journals and national funding agencies.
