Manish Hassan Nagaraj is a PhD student at Politecnico di Torino, under the scope of the H2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie European Training Network project ICONIC (Improving the Crashworthiness of Composite Transportation Structures). He graduated with distinction from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany in 2016, earning a Master of Science degree in Computational Engineering. The topic of his master thesis was "Estimating the effective thermal conductivity of carbon nanocomposites using analytical and computational models," which was undertaken at the Institute of Structural Mechanics at Ruhr University Bochum. He also carried out research activities as a graduate student researcher in the same group. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal University, India, graduating in 2014. He has participated in various international student exchange programs and conferences. His current research activity under the scope of the ICONIC project includes the development of high fidelity models based on advanced structural theories to improve the predictive capabilities of finite elements in the impact analyses of composites.
